In Copenhagen tis past summer, we saw how dramatically outdoor cafes are becoming more and more comfortable
We just got back from Florence Italy and we were amazed by the number of outdoor cafes. Some were so small and narrow, but they still added activity to even the smallest streets.

This group was created to celebrate outdoor cafes! Cafes offer a place to sit down and relax, a place to see and be seen, a place to meet friends, and add a sense of life and excitement to any public space! So please enjoy and discuss!
I would use our "Place Evaluation" form and lead some small group exercises using it as a way to evaluate the of particular places, but also how to improve the given place. Then you will have benchmarks to go back to as the place improves.

- The New York city Subway on a Saturday late morning. I have always wanted to take all the people on one car and ask them who their grandparents were, where they were from and what they did. The entire world would be covered in one Subway car. I particularly like the "F" train because that is what I use every day

Anne Goodall said… - Hi Fred. All is good here, thanks. Happy to join the group as it will provide a focus for me thinking more about how these places work in Perth. Backyards are a big part of the culture in Australia and I think that's part of why people tend to use front yards very little. We have a family with young people who live next door who use their front yard as a play space and it means neighbours stop and chat, etc. It's great.
