After San Francisco, Mediterranean Markets on the Move!
Following the wave the 7th International Public Markets Conference has created, now mediterreanean markets start to create a coordination. A new project, partially funded by the European Union, the EMPORION-Med Programme, has started this july to promote a common framework and develope a programme of studies and public events between the markets of both shores of the mediterranean sea. Leaded by Barcelona, Torino, Marseille and Genoa, it will run work up to three years.

I'm promoting the developtment of public market and recovering of public spaces already invaded by street vendors in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia Southamerica. The city was declare by UNESCO historical and cultural patrimony of humanity in 1984 and represent one of the most popular destination for tourist in the southern Caribbean. Please, be welcome to learn and visit our city. The only risk is wanting to stay

I enjoyed very much the whole Conference meeting, and the bright colors and freshness of the vitaminic extraordinary appealing vegetables at Ferry Markets Famer's Market in San Francisco.

Oakland Grand Lake gets my vote. It was the most lively and had a great community atmosphere. The variety of the vendors was eclectic, and the two fabulous bands at the market created a perfect soundtrack to lunch and a walk around the park.
It was really cool to see how a space that was basically underneath a freeway at a busy intersection became a place for people to gather, eat, and enjoy the outdoors.

I got two huge tacos for $2.50 at the AFM thinking I was going to get a snack. That turned out to be lunch because I didn't need anything else the rest of the day. Great Market.

That's a tough one! I loved the coziness of the Noe Valley Farmers Market. The produce was fantastic, the market volunteers were so dedicated and the atmosphere was great fun. But, the Alemany Farmers Market has a real historic sense about it, and is different than anything that I've experienced here in NYC. I saw a lot of the same farmers at AFM that I saw at Noe and Filmore and even the Ferry Plaza, but the atmosphere was more chill and the prices were definitely lower. It was great to see so many people from many cultures shopping and eating amazing tacos and tamales. I guess I'd pick Alemany!
